MANAMA: As a result of coordination between a number of law enforcing agencies including the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, the Anti-Terrorism Unit and Police Aviation, the Chief of Public Security has announced the arrest of two wanted fugitives who had been sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia.
Bahrainis Salman Isa Ali Salman, 31, and Ali Maki Ali Salman, 26, were convicted in a number of terrorist cases on charges of conducting bombing operations, murder and violent attacks on policemen in East Ekar village.
The Chief said that during the arrest the two fugitives tried to shoot police with a gun but that they were apprehended before anyone was hurt. A second gun, additional weapons, ready-to-use homemade bombs and explosive materials were confiscated, in addition to rods and fire extinguishers that are used as homemade guns. The confiscated items were hidden in a variety of locations. A large amount of medicinal equipment, which was to be used to treat injured terrorists and rioters, was also seized.
The Chief said the bombs were dismantled by the Anti-Terrorism Unit and all legal measures were taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
