MANAMA: Despite somber mood over the tragedy in Peshawar, around 2500 Pakistani community members took part in the Bahrain national day celebrations held at the Andalus Garden under the patronage of the Capital Governor.
Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa Capital Governor was the chief guest during the celebrations marking the 43rd National Day and 15th anniversary of His Majesty King’s accession to the throne.
Conceived as an entertainment event for Bahrainis to watch the traditional display of drum beat or Dhol performance on this auspicious occasion of national day turned into to family fiesta which lasted for over four hours’ non-stop drum beat and Punjabi dance or bangra.
The Capital Governor and guests applauded the presentation of the colourful event by the Pakistan Club led by its Chairman Mohammed Zahid Sheikh.
In his speech the Chairman Pakistan Club, conveyed condolences on behalf of Pakistan community and Bahraini brethren on the loss of innocent lives in terrorist attack in Pakistan.
“On December 16th, the tragic and barbaric act of terrorism in Peshawar had claimed 142 lives of innocent students, teachers and staff of the Army Public School.
“Back home the entire nation is still in shock and trying to come with terms after the unprecedented terrorist attack targeting future leaders of the nation.
“Your Excellency, I am pleased to note that brotherly Kingdom of Bahrain joined the global condemnation of this act of terrorism and calls for serious action to confront the danger of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of its motives or goals, and dry up its financing sources.
“Your Excellency, on behalf of the Pakistan Club Board and Pakistani community I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister and Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Deputy Supreme Commander and the 1st Deputy Prime Minister on the 43th National Day and 15th anniversary of HM King’s accession to throne.
Sir, under the wise leadership, the Kingdom of Bahrain has witnessed many strides in economic, political and social development since HM King announced reforms in 2001.
Your Excellency, the reforms march was fully supported by HRH Prime Minister and HRH Crown Prince and 1st Deputy Premier which have impacted positively on the lives of ordinary citizens of Bahrain in addition to creating a sustainable development patterns on economic and political fronts.
