Manama: The Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs of the Interior Ministry announced on Sunday that the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science summoned Ali Salman, the General Secretary of Al Wefaq.
He was questioned about breaking the law and various illegal activity and legal procedures are being taken to refer Salman to the Public Prosecution.
In a statement, Al Wefaq National Islamic Society confirmed the arrest of its Secretary General by Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior, confirming that he has not been transferred to the public prosecution yet.

Al Wefaq Secretary General has been detained for more than 10 hours now, in the Criminal Intelligence offices. He is being interrogated and is facing malicious charges. He wasn’t transferred to the public prosecution and is still arrested under the full responsibility of the Ministry of Interior.
Al Wefaq emphasized that targeting prominent national leader Shaikh Ali Salman, is a perilous and arbitrary adventure which will seriously complicate the political and security scene in Bahrain.
Al Wefaq said it is most necessary to immediately and unconditionally release its Secretary General; Shaikh Ali Salman, and respect and stop targeting political activism.
