MANAMA: There has been coordination among the Ministries and public entities since the launch of reforms project in Bahrain which paved the way for integrating the public sector services by the eGovernment Authority, according to the Information Minister.
The Official Government Spokesperson, and the Minister for Information Affairs, Isa Abdulrahman Al Hammadi, on Monday during a Q&A session in post Cabinet briefing said that serving people would remain a top priority of the Ministries.
“His Royal Highness, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister who chaired the regular Cabinet session on Monday and at outset Cabinet thanked the King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia for initiating talks aimed at normalizing relations between Qatar and Egypt. His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister also attended the Cabinet meeting,” the Minister said.
“In some cases there are no Minister designate but still the work is being carried out on daily basis and there is no disconnect with public,” he said, adding that in line with the Royal Decree there were some Ministerial slots not assigned to an independent individual, however, the work is being taken care of through additional portfolios.
During the briefing he said that the Cabinet had Okayed three memoranda of understandings (MoUs) namely with Jordan, Morocco and India.
The Cabinet also discussed the ways and means of enhancing co-operation with the Kingdom of Jordan.
The Minister said that Bahrain through a MoU with India would benefit from India’s expertise in media, in specific, in addition to capacity building in vital areas.
“In my Ministry I have directed to review all MoUs with India in Information and Media sectors and keeping in view the importance of all aspects we will discuss and take up one by one with our Indian counterparts,” the Minister said, adding that possible cooperation with PTI is also on the cards.
With regard to Morocco on exploring opportunities in labour and job sector he said that the Ministry of Labour would be looking into the implementation of the MoU.
The Cabinet exempted the Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) from the Customs levy in line with the memo filed by the Minister of Transportation and Communications.
The Minister said that the Cabinet had reviewed the Government’s Action Plan and referred it to the concerned Ministry for necessary action.
Referring to the constitutional amendments on Government’s Action Plan the Minister said that the Plan has to be approved by the Parliament first before its implementation.
“The action plan aims at achieving aspirations of the general public which stems out from the leadership’s commitment to welfare and well being of the people,” the Minister, said.
