Al Sakhir Palace: His Majesty the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Sunday underlined Bahrain’s keenness on promoting aspects and cooperation with UN agencies in the interest of boosting Bahrain’s development process.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, at Sakhir Palace was speaking as he received LI Yong, Director-General of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), who is visiting the country to attend the International Forum on Green Economy and Technologies.
HM the King’s Personal Representative, President of the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE), Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, on Monday patronizes the event.
HM the King expressed pride in the relations bonding the Kingdom of Bahrain with the UN in all fields.
HM the King highlighted Bahrain’s welcome to hosting this key forum to cast light on the latest global trends in green economy and technologies and to showcase successful regional and international case studies in this expanding sector.
HM the King commended the UN vital role in developing sustainable development programmes in various countries of the world, as well as its efforts in establishing international security and stability.
HM the King pointed out Bahrain’s achievements in the field of education and underscored the importance of the establishment of vocational training centers to develop the youth’s capabilities in all areas.
HM the King noted Bahrain’s interest in benefiting from expertise provided by the UN in economic, industrial, trade and educational fields, and resolve to develop human resources and diversify the economy.
HM the King asked UNIDO Director-General to convey greetings to UN Sec-Gen, Ban Ki-moon, and hailed the UN staff’s efforts in achieving productive goals.
UNIDO Director-General praised the progress witnessed by Bahrain in various fields, thanks to HM the King’s wise vision, by which many achievements made in various areas, mainly in the preservation of sustainable environment in cooperation with the UN.
He applauded The Youth Economic and Social Integration and Entrepreneurship Programme, which is a pioneering model, created by Bahrain and has been adopted by the UNIDO in more than forty countries of the world.
He underscored the importance of the International Forum on Green Economy and Technologies hosted by Bahrain, and the fruitful bilateral cooperation at various levels to reach the goals set by the UN.
He wished Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
