MANAMA: Bahrain its full commitment to the principles of international law, which prohibits interference in the internal affairs of States, and stressed that the legal proceedings in issues related to offenses against state security and the safety of the citizens of the Kingdom are handled by the judicial authority in the Kingdom and are a matter of domestic affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement, said.
The statement was issued in response to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic on January 8, regarding the Secretary-General of the Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society being investigated by the authorities concerned regarding several breaches and violations of the law, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it would like to emphasize that the Kingdom of Bahrain has established an integrated system of laws that preserve all human rights.
“The systems of laws also promote all kinds of freedoms and ensure freedom of opinion and expression and political practice, including real and constructive dialogue through the legislative authority as a constitutional institution that is expressive and guarantor of the interests of Bahraini society, which is represented with all its components in the Parliament and the Shura Council.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that this case is related to offenses against state security and the safety of the citizens of the Kingdom, such as inciting violence and other abuses, which any State cannot overlook or stand silent towards.
“While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses that the Kingdom is fully committed to the principles of international law, which prohibits interference in the internal affairs of States, it emphasize that the legal proceedings in the above-mentioned issue is handled by the judicial authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain and it is a matter of its internal affairs.”
