MANAMA: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani has expressed the total rejection by the GCC countries of any foreign interference in their domestic affairs.
Al Zayani strongly denounced the responses and statements made by the Iranian Foreign Ministry regarding Bahrain’s Public Prosecution’s investigations with “an official from Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society”.
The Iranian statements are “an unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain,” he said.
The GCC Chief said the investigations being conducted by the Public Prosecution in Bahrain with Al-Wefaq official were “based on the laws and regulations enforced on all citizens without distinction.”
Dr. Al Zayani added he had full confidence in the Bahraini judicial fairness and competence, as well as in the keenness to provide all legal guarantees that ensure the rights of all.
