MANAMA: A BD40000 burglary incident which also left a goldsmith seriously injured on Monday late hours in the heart of Manama has sent a shock wave among the business community in Bahrain which now demanding 24/7 security.
Rajesh Bhattia, one of the owners of a 100 year old family business based in Manama, was attacked by unknown assailants when he was leaving his shop at around 11.30pm and snatched his pouch containing BD4000 cash.
Rajesh Bhattia was taken to hospital after he received a serious head injury as attackers hit him with an iron rod and he remained in ICU for the past 24 hours.
Bhattia has been moved to general ward on Tuesday but was still under observation as the doctors will carry out further tests to get exact place of injury and to determine about the possible skull fracture.
The issue of burglary was brought into the knowledge of Mohammed Sajid Sheikh, Board member BCCI and the business community wants more security.
Sajid Sheikh assured the business community that he would take up the matter with the authorities to ensure that such incident won’t happen again.
