Manama: As part of its efforts to develop the skills and capabilities of Bahrainis in line with labour market needs, the second phase of Tamkeen’s graphic design training programme recently commenced with more than 17 Bahrainis set to be served under the programme.
The initiative, which is conducted in partnership with twofour54, the commercial arm of Abu Dhabi’s media zone, and Capital Knowledge Institute, was launched in 2013 after market studies showed the need for qualified Bahraini graphic designers.
In total, 50 Bahrainis will be trained through the programme. 16 Bahrainis were trained in the first phase of the programme and are now employed in local companies.
The trainees undergo 6 months of intensive training, followed by two-month internships in a number of media companies and organisations in the country.
The training includes theoretical training on principles and best practices in various aspects of graphic design delivered by subject matter experts from twofour54. The two-month internships enable the participants to implement that learning in a real world environment.
The twofour54 trainers have praised the trainees for the level of creativity and innovation exhibited through their assignments as they prepare to commence their internships next April.
