Manama: The Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) has honoured three graduate students from the Faculty of Business at Bahrain Polytechnic.
The three students, Salman Alzarqawi, Fatima Alsubah and Maryam Husain, all contributed to the research, writing and production of BAB’s Handbook of Retail Banking which was published in July 2014 with the support of NBB which sponsored the publication.
The handbook, which is available in both English and Arabic, takes a practical look at retail banking services and products including basic current accounts, savings products, mortgages and credit cards that are offered by both conventional and Islamic banks in Bahrain.
“The students at Bahrain Polytechnic did an excellent job. They displayed professionalism and creativity to help produce a book that is an essential source of information for anyone that has an interest in the banking and financial sector in Bahrain,” Abdullah Wallace, Publisher and Head of External Communications at BAB who supervised the students for the graduate project said.
“The project has had real and tangible impact and mutual gain. The students have gained vital experience and BAB has gained in creating something that was needed for the Banking and Finance industry. The project also demonstrates the capacity of our academic staff to maintain relevant professional currency through consultancy with our industry partners,” Cormac MacMahon, Dean of the Faculty of Business said.
“It’s a pleasure seeing our students getting involved in high standard projects, because at the end of the day, these are the kinds of tasks they will be handling after graduation. We hope to continue enhancing our practical learning approach, as we try to meet Bahrain’s 2030 Vision and the government’s action plan 2015-2018,” Chief Executive Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, said.
BAB and Bahrain Polytechnic said they would continue their collaboration with the production of The Handbook of Islamic Finance which will be published later this year.
