BIC, Al Sakhir: On the third day of the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2015, the Bahrain IT Expo 2015 was inaugurated along with a press conference that was held with the participation of key figures.
Among the attendees were Minister of Education Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Naimi; Central Informatics Organization President Dr. Mohammed Al Amer; eGovernment Authority CEO Mohammed Ali AlQaed; General Director of Traffic His Excellency Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa; Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) Deputy General Manager Shaikh Hesham bin Mohamed Al Khalifa; and Secretary General of the Higher Education Council Prof. Reyadh Y. Hamzah.
During the press conference, the Ministry of Education and eGovernment Authority (eGA) announced their collaboration on the ‘Capacity Building’ program – a training program organized by the eGA. The training provides students of public schools the Microsoft certified program, along with the launch of the eService ‘Recommended Universities’. Provided by the Ministry of Education, the service enables users to search for the recommended universities and programs.
Another announced project during the press conference was the GDT and EWA Service dashboards which represent a unified interface concept for all the services provided by the General Directorate of Traffic and the Electricity and Water Authority. The concept is an innovative way providing users an easy and convenient way to access all the services through one outlet with added benefits through the eKey service which is set to be a leading project in the region, allowing government clients to have a master electronic identity to complete their transactions securely and easily.
In addition, the three winning projects of the ‘Technopreneur’ program were also announced. This initiative was launched by eGA in partnership with BDB to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of ICT among Bahraini youth.
The 19th March, will be the last day of the Bahrain IT Expo 2015 and the eight parallel workshops – a day that will conclude the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2015.
