Berlin: The Minister of Industry and Commerce who participated in the round-table forum of Ministers of Tourism on the sidelines of the ITB highlighted the importance of the sports events in the national branding.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce Zayed R. Alzayani participated in the round-table forum of Ministers of Tourism on the sidelines of the International Tourism Bourse (ITB), in presence of Secretary-General of UNWTO Taleb Rifai and Ministers of tourism in South Africa, Costa Rica, Brazil and Egyptian Ambassador in Germany.
The discussion focused on “the importance of sporting events and their impacts on tourism”. In this regard, the Minister reviewed Bahrain’s experiences in hosting and organizing Formula 1 stating that “The Kingdom of Bahrain is the first countries in the region embraces motorsports event, where this event attracted more than 350 million up to 400 million viewers from all over the world.” “This huge event achieved tourism rebound in many services such as transportation, hotels, restaurants, shopping and other services,” added the Minister.
“The Bahraini Marshal to organize Formula 1 is used in India, and this confirms Bahrain precedence in human resources in organizing such major events.”
The Minister also confirmed that hosting such events reflect positively on the national economy.
