MANAMA: Cypriot President, Nicos Anastasiades, visited Bahrain National Museum where he was welcomed by Industry and Commerce Minister and Head of the Mission of Honour Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani as well as President of the Culture and Antiquities Authority (CAA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa.
The Cypriot President and his accompanying delegation toured the museum’s showrooms and sections and got briefed about the activities of CAA to highlight Bahrain’s rich cultural heritage.
The Cypriot President stressed in a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) deep-rooted bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation, voicing hope a Cypriot ambassador will be accredited to Bahrain soon. He pointed out that trade relations between both countries date back around 3000 years according to historical and archaeological sources. He also underlined the need to further boost bilateral ties at all levels.
On her part the CAA President revealed that the authority is currently working on developing the mounds hall which is hoped to be opened next May. She added that a development project is underway for all showrooms to project Bahrain’s civilisational image. She described museums as a mirror reflecting people’s historical and cultural heritage, taking pride in Bahrain’s rich culture. She thanked the Cypriot President for the visit, stressing the importance of cultural exchange in promoting the sector.
