MANAMA: Despite the downward-trend in aluminium LME prices, Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C (Alba) was able to increase its overall sales and throughput. For the first quarter of 2015, sales figures reached 228,307 metric tonnes (mt), an increase of 1,835 (mt), versus 226,472 mt in Q1 2014 while production jumped by 2.4% to 237,774 mt versus 232,298 mt for the same period in 2014.
In addition, Alba closed the first quarter with its Value-Added Sales averaging 64% of total shipments versus 66% in 2014.
“Despite challenging market conditions, we are pleased with the higher overall figures for production and sales, ahead of the company’s own forecast for the period, thanks to strong management performance,” Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray, said.
Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) – one of the largest and modern aluminium smelters in the world – is renowned for its premium grade aluminium products, technological strength and innovative policies, strict environmental guidelines and high track record for safety.
