SANABIS: Bahrain is set to become meetings, incentives, conferences and expo (MICE) hub in the Middle East, thanks to the Government’s commitment to the sector.
“There is a strong tendency to support exhibitions and conferences industry in Bahrain as part of future plan targeting the expansion of new Exhibition Center,” Zayed R Alzayani, Minister of Industry and Commerce and Chairman of Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority said on Tuesday.
The Minister was speaking as he opened Food and Hospitality Expo 2015 which is considered as one of the largest gatherings in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of food and hospitality. The expo was organized by BECA from 28th – 30th April 2015 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The Minister of Health Bahrain Sadeq Al Shehabi also joined the Minister Industry and Commerce among other officials during the opening of the two expos at the BIEC.
“We are delighted to inaugurate this exhibition, which is witnessing a good presence in terms of food and health products and pleased to launch for the first time Bahrain Food Excellence Award in cooperation with BCCI and this event will be an annual award for Bahraini products in order to encourage manufacturers to enter food sector and direct them to export to neighboring and global markets,” he said.
During the exhibition, the Minister launched Bahrain Food Excellence Award which is adopted by BCCI Food and Agriculture sector committee where the award targeted local food and beverage companies.
“This award is to encourage local products and stimulate Bahraini food companies to improve their performance and competitiveness as well as enhancing their local product quality and increase consumer confidence,” BCCI Committee chairman Khalid Ali Al Amin said, adding that the committee adopted a special logo for the award symbolizes product excellence and will be stamped on the products for two years.
The participation is open to all local companies which provides make in Bahrain products with intervention 5% of the Bahraini raw materials.
BECA cooperates with its strategic partners in innovation of new products and attract more participation from inside and outside Bahrain in order to achieve greater success.
