SANABIS: Under the patronage of Industry and Commerce Minister Zayed Al Zayani, the Food & Agriculture committee of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry launched “Bahrain Food Excellence Award” on Tuesday coinciding with the opening of the Food and Hospitality Expo at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center.
“The award mainly aims to promote local food and beverages and encourage local producers and manufacturers to raise the quality of their products,” BCCI Executive Committee Member and head of the Food and Agriculture committee Khaled Al Amin, said.
“We also seek to encouraging domestic investments, attract foreign investments, and create more jobs”.
“Prticipants should meet a number of requirements such as having their products produced or manufactured locally with at least 5% of the ingredients from the local market, involving local manpower in the production process, and selling the product mainly in the local market.”
“A special logo signifying excellence was accredited by the committee, and will be stamped on all the winning products, and can be retained over a two-year-period”.
“There are 13 categories to the award, and one winner will be selected from each. The categories are Dairy Products, Fish Products, Snack Products (Chips), Bakery Products, Pickles, Spices, Herbal Water Products, Water and Juice, Chocolate, Bahraini Halwa, Local Arabic Coffee, Nuts, and Ice cream (Local),” Al Amin, said.
Al Amin expressed deep thanks and appreciation to the Minister upon patronizing the award, and called interested participants to take part and register online on www.bccifac.com. He also praised the Food and Hospitality Expo and other similar events and their role in stimulating trade and business activities in the country.
