BIC, Al Sakhir: Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) announced on Tuesday that it had sold out its Main Grandstand for this weekend’s 2015 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
The three-day race weekend roars into action Friday and the Kingdom of Bahrain is already buzzing with excitement for the year’s biggest and most highly anticipated event.
The Main Grandstand can accommodate a maximum of 10,500 spectators at a time. It is the perfect place to enjoy the upcoming night race, as it overlooks the start and finish line, the Formula One pit lane, the main straight and the podium.
Several giant screens are also strategically located opposite the Main Grandstand for fans to be able to follow all the action as the cars make their way across the rest of the circuit.
“We are extremely delighted to have sold out our Main Grandstand for this year’s Bahrain Grand Prix,” BIC Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, said.
“This illustrates the great interest the public has in our race, and we hope that it is an indicator for a record event ahead, in terms of attendance for all three days.
“We are now only a couple of days away from welcoming our fans to BIC. We are greatly looking forward to a wonderful weekend of world-class racing and entertainment.”
Formula One’s star drivers continued to arrive in Bahrain on Tuesday and the teams stepped up their preparations at the circuit leading up to this weekend’s racing. Among those touching down on the island were Felipe Massa of Williams, Pastor Maldonado of Lotus and Marcus Ericsson of Sauber.
BIC’s Formula One Paddock was busy with staff emptying large crates of equipment and setting up their team buildings and garages.
