Manama: As part of the Tamkeen-Tatweer Petroleum Training and Employment programme for Technicians and Operators, which aims to provide Bahrainis with highly demanded skillsets and certifications to allow them to further grow and develop in their careers, Tatweer Petroleum held a graduation ceremony for 58 candidates who recently completed the customised training programme.
The programme, designed by specialists in the Oil and Gas field, provided training for Field Operators as well as Field Maintenance Trainee Technicians, who specialise in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and automation fields.
The programme commenced in late 2013, running between 12 to18 months, and was held at the National Institute for Industrial Training in Hidd, with onsite practical sessions being held at Tatweer’s premises.
Tamkeen’s Vice President for Human Capital Development, Amal Al Kooheji, highlighted the importance of Tamkeen’s involvement in Tatweer’s training programme.
“The Oil and Gas sector is one of the largest and most attractive industries in Bahrain and the GCC region. Through Tamkeen’s human capital development programmes, industries can utilise high caliber and skilled Bahraini professionals who have the knowledge and experience necessary to work effectively and efficiently.”
“We are extremely pleased with the results of the training programme. Our partnership with Tamkeen has proven to be successful in shaping the outlook of students by preparing them to actively work in the Oil and Gas sector. With an aging demographic in our industry these new recruits are an integral part of our plans to refresh the talent and are the future of Tatweer. We are very much a performance driven company at Tatweer and we are eagerly looking forward to being able to fast-track our recently graduated trainees into early positions of responsibility,” Tatweer Petroleum’s Chief Executive Andrew H. Kershaw said.
Due to the increased productivity of the students, they have been able to successfully complete the course two months ahead of estimated completion time and have been accredited by Edexcel for the National Institute for Industrial Trainign (NIIT) part and by City & Guilds UK for the on-the-job training (OJT) part at Tatweer.
