MANAMA: The Kingdom of Bahrain’s achievement on achieving targets of seven Millennium Development Goals out of eight agreed by the global community in year 2000.
Dr. Sima Bahous Dr. Bahous, Assistant Secretary-General, Regional Director for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), applauded Bahrain’s efforts in implementing seven out of the eight goals by the deadline of 2015.
She noted Bahrain’s leading experience in integrating students with special needs in the regular educational process. She also pointed out Bahrain’s achievements made in the area of equal opportunities in education sector, and many other achievements and programmes accomplished related to the nation’s women and youth.
She was speaking during an audience with the Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammad bin Mubarak Al Khalifa on the sidelines of her participation in the 2nd Arab High-Level Forum on Sustainable Development which concluded on Thursday.
UN Resident Coordinator of UN Development Program in Kingdom of Bahrain, Peter Grohmann, also attended the meeting.
Deputy Premier praised existing cooperation between the United Nation and the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UNDP programmes implemented in the Arab region that aim at achieving and reinforcing sustainable development.
