MANAMA: Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) shareholders’ gave an approval for the $3.5billion Line 6 Expansion Project during the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the Chairman of Alba’s Board of Directors, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa.
The statement was made following the second quarterly meeting for this year which was held on Wednesday at Alba.
“We look forward to get the approval on the Line 6 Expansion Project at our shareholders Extraordinary General Meeting. The Line 6 project upon completion will make Alba the largest single-site smelter in the world,” the Chairman of Alba’s Board of Directors, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa, added.
The Board studied the reports of the Executive Committee, Board Audit Committee, and the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Updates were also given on the Safety, Financial Performance and Industry Market trends.
The Board has also agreed on the dates for the upcoming Committees as well as board’s meetings for 2015.
In addition, the Board approved the appointment of Khalid Al-Garni, from Sabic Industrial Investments Co. as the replacement of Fawaz M. Al Fawaz to the board of Directors of Alba, effective May 4th, 2015; as well as the appointment of Ms. Suha Karzoon, from Mumtalakat as the replacement of Anthony Lee Robinson to the Board of Directors of Alba, effective June 10th, 2015.
The Alba Board of Directors comprises six directors appointed by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, which in addition to the Chairman of the Board, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa include Yousif Abdulla Taqi, Osama Mohammed Al Arrayedh, Fahad Nasser Al-Hazzani, Dr. Mohamed Kameshki and Suha Karzoon. The two directors appointed by Sabic Industrial Investments Co (SIIC) are Fahad S. Al Sheaibi, Khalid Al-Garni and the independent director, Abdul Aziz Al Humaid.
