In a failed attempt to plant a bomb a young Bahraini died as the device exploded prematurely. It was confirmed by authorities that a blast occurred on 15th July, Wednesday morning in East Eker, killing 18-year old Qassim Mohsen Ali Abdullah.
The General Director of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science has said the Operations Room received a call at 3:23 am on Wednesday from a local private security guard who reported hearing an explosion.
Police arrived at the location and found the deceased individual. The Police immediately secured the crime scene, and all necessary steps were taken to collect evidence and ensure all legal procedures were followed.
Initial investigations have indicated that the deceased individual was a secondary school student who returned to Bahrain in May after a two-week trip to Iran. In addition, investigations have indicated that a number of other individuals who were present at the time of the explosion may have sustained injuries.
Investigations are continuing and the Public Prosecution has been notified.
