MANAMA: The General Director of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science announced on Sunday the arrest of former MP and member of Al Wefaq National Islamic Political Society on August 18 after returning from Iran on charges related to financing terrorism among terrorist fugitives and others who are associated in terrorist acts.
He said the name of the arrestee was mentioned in a number of terrorist cases, including the Sitra terrorist blast on July 28 that killed two policemen. After the information was verified an arrest warrant was issued.
The General Director said that the suspect received donations from different sources, including money from participants in rallies, and then he distributed it to wanted fugitives. He gave a terrorist group and one of its members money while knowing about its terrorist activities and he helped cover up their crimes.
He provided the living conditions for members of the group despite knowing its terrorist goals. The General Director said that the legal proceedings were taken and the arrestee was referred to the Public Prosecution.
