Manama:Gender equality can generate over $13 trillion in economic benefits to the global economy, according to an expert.
There is a need to enhance the role of women in the banking and finance in specific and in the private sector in general which will help empower the women globally and also bring as much as $13 trillion to the global economy, says Ms.Guelabatin Sun, Global Head of Diversity and Equality at Deutsche Bank.
She was speaking during a conference held in Manama titled Women in Banking and Financial Sector at Four Seasons Hotel which attracted top notch bankers experts and regulators. The participants deliberated on the challenges and opportunities for women in the banking sector. Quoting the McKensey report Ms. Guelabatin urges to create an inclusive work place in each entity as part of the strategy to bring about the change in the prevalent male dominated social trends.
The Conference was held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Shaikha Sabeeka Bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the President of the Supreme Council for Women and the wife of HM the King. Organised by the Central Bank of Bahrain, the event was first if it’s kind in this part of the world aimed at deliberating upon the issues related to woes empowerment in the rapidly changing global scenario.
Speaking to the audience the Governor of the CBB, Mr Rasheed Al Maraj highlighted the importance of the conference and said this would further fuel the efforts aimed at bringing inclusiveness to the social fabric.
