MANAMA: A 34 years old Mohammed Tanvir a Pakistani police officer was killed in an alleged arson attack in Bahrain.
The thugs allegedly stop the police patrol later on Saturday evening and lit the vehicle after spraying a large quantity of inflammable substance inside the vehicle including on the three occupants.
The Interior Ministry said in a Molotov cocktail attack targeting a police patrol at 6:00 pm on Saturday evening in Karbabad village, one policeman was killed in the attack and two others were seriously injured. They were referred to hospital for treatment.
The Ministry said that the attack was conducted by a group of terrorists who hurled Molotov cocktails at the police who were securing the roads and protecting property in the village. An investigation was launched to identify the suspects and bring them to justice. The Pakistan Club on Sunday has condemned a barbaric arson attack on the police vehicle by a group of terrorists killing on duty officer Mohammed Tanvir, a Pakistani national, and seriously injuring two other colleagues. The second injured identified as Mohammed Arslan, also a Pakistani is stated to be also in a serious condition.
“Such attacks on police by thugs will not deter the Pakistanis from their resolve to defend the geographic and ideological boundaries of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Pakistan Community stands shoulder to shoulder with the family of late Mr Tanvir and offer any assistance may need by the grieving family now or in future,” the Chairman of the Club’s executive board in a statement said.
“We also pray for a speedy recovery of another Pakistani who received serious injuries in the arson attack as well as the third policeman whose nationality was not confirmed,” the statement said.
“We are looking forward for a thorough investigation, arrest of thugs and subsequently bringing the culprits to the justice. The Community wants to see exemplary punishment in the case, a step which can help to stop repetition of such heinous crime in future,” the statement added.
Born and brought up in Bahrain, late Tanvir left two years old daughter and four months old son behind. Deceased’s father Tanvir Naveed who lives in Hidd area works in a private company.
