MANAMA: The US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday said that Iran should adhere to the agreement signed with the P5+1 and refrain what he called meddling into the affairs of the neighbouring states.
The US Secretary of State who held talks with Bahrain Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid said that the US would continue to monitor the situation while working with partners in the region including Bahrain that how Iran should be refrained from destabilising the neighbouring States.
“The US is aware of cache seized in international waters by allegedly carried by four Iranian boats to smuggle it to some neighbouring country or countries. We continue to keep eye on the development but the most important thing is that Iran should live up to the expectations of the global community and respect the commitments made by her during the nuclear deal,” the Secretary added.
Later, the US Secretary of State will meet his GCC counterparts to discuss the details of the upcoming meet in Saudi Arabia. The GCC Foreign Ministers meeting with the US Secretary of State John Kerry in Bahrain is part of the GCC-US Summit to be held in Riyadh on 21 April within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two sides, Gulf cooperation Council (GCC) secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani said.
Mr. Al Zayani quoted saying that the meeting will discuss the reports of the working groups formed after the Camp David Summit 2015 to study promoting the GCC-US relations in the fields of policies, defence, security and economy.
The meeting will also discuss the developments in the region and the efforts for the settlement of conflicts in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Libya in addition to fighting terrorism and other regional and international issues of common concern.
