MANAMA: With the launch of the 6th LULU Hypermarket at Galleria Mall in Zinj area, the total investments by the Group has topped the $100 million mark and yet the Group plans to open two more malls in future, says Yusuffali MA, Chairman of LULU Group.
Mr. Yusuf Ali on the sidelines of the opening of the Lulu Hypermarket in Zinj told The24X7News Bahrain (www.twentyfoursevennews.com) that the Group plans to open two more hypermarkets beyond 2016. “This shows our commitment to the Kingdom of Bahrain and when we opened the first hypermarket, the Group earmarked to invest $100million in Bahrain, the figure we have already achieved, “says Mr. Yusuf.
In addition to investments, he adds, the Lulu Group continues to be a major job provider in the Kingdom with almost number of employees reaching 1200, with Bahrainis getting exposure to the retail segment and some specialized jobs categories as well.
Since, the arrival of the hypermarket concept in Bahrain in early 2000 by then FuCom Group by opening the Geant Hypermarkets, the concept has been revolutionized by the Lulu Group which now is covering the country’s most of the geographic locations better than any other Group.
The new concept has impacted the Kingdom’s economic sector positively as the investments in the retail sector serving as a catalyst to stir the investments in the other vital sectors.
LULU Group, Middle East retail major, continued its expansion by opening of its 65th Hypermarket in the Kingdom of Bahrain at Zinj and the opening ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain in the presence of H.E. Zayed Al Zayani, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and other senior Government officials and various ambassadors at Galleria, in Zinj area.
