MANAMA: The US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday said that the US President Obama remained committed to the peace and security of the GCC.
The US Secretary of State Kerry was speaking to reporters after having one-to-one meeting with his Bahraini counterpart Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid and revealed that the President Obama would himself in the region during the US-GCC Summit to be held on 21st April in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Later, the US Secretary of State will meet his GCC counterparts to discuss the details of the upcoming meet in Saudi Arabia. The GCC Foreign Ministers meeting with the US Secretary of State John Kerry in Bahrain is part of the GCC-US Summit to be held in Riyadh on 21 April within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two sides, Gulf cooperation Council (GCC) secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani said.
Mr. Al Zayani quoted saying that the meeting will discuss the reports of the working groups formed after the Camp David Summit 2015 to study promoting the GCC-US relations in the fields of policies, defence, security and economy.
The meeting will also discuss the developments in the region and the efforts for the settlement of conflicts in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Libya in addition to fighting terrorism and other regional and international issues of common concern.
