MANAMA: The US Secretary of State John Kerry and Bahrain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid have commended the ongoing coordination and consultation between the two sides that reflect on the promotion of common interests and meet the aspirations of both countries and their peoples and eventually lead to consolidation of peace, security, and comprehensive settlement of the region’ crises.
This came as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, held talks on Thursday with the United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, who is currently on an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Shaikh Khalid welcomed his American counterpart, expressing his appreciation for the visit at this crucial time that pose many challenges to the region, which require concerted efforts and cooperation among all parties to overcome the current challenges and threats in order to achieve peace, security, and prosperity for the best interest of the people of the region.

Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa underlined the importance of the exchange of visits between officials of both countries in order to exchange views and consultations on all aspects of the friendly relations between them and ways of boosting them to wider horizons.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, who participated in the meeting, pointed to the necessity of cementing the economic and trade relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States, taking into account the common desire and potential opportunities in light of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries, which constitute an important framework and a strong momentum fuelling forward the relations between the two sides.
John Kerry reiterated the United States’ firm commitment to expand areas of cooperation and strengthen coordination with the Kingdom of Bahrain in various fields.
He underscored his country’s resolve to further boost the economic and trade relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain for the benefit of the two countries as well as further bolstering the process of economic development, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
The meeting also reviewed the issues on the agenda of the joint meeting of the GCC foreign ministers and the US Secretary of State.
Both sides also discussed key developments and regional and international issues of common interest.
