SANABIS: Amidst wide participation of members of the Bahraini business community, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism held an awareness-raising seminar on the Gulf Unified Technical Regulation for Low-Voltage Electric Equipment and Appliances delivered by representatives from the Standards and Metrology Directorate of the Ministry on Thursday 12th May 2016 in Bait Al Tijjar.
During the seminar, the speakers highlighted the objective of the regulation, and explained the obligations it enforces on the manufacturer, the authorized representative, the importer, and the distributor. The speakers also pointed out the 13 types of appliances subject to the regulation, namely, fans, refrigerators, clothes dryers, blenders, toasters, hair dryers, heaters, Microwave ovens, ovens and grillers, water heaters, ironing devices, electrical switches and sockets, and air conditioners.
The representatives addressed the audience’s questions and reinstated the importance of abiding by the regulation which mainly aims to step-up safety and unify standards amidst the GCC states.
