MANAMA: In line with the directives of H.R.H the Prime Minister to follow up commercial sector preparations for the holy month of Ramadan and to provide citizen’s needs of goods in the markets of the Kingdom, Undersecretary of Commerce Affairs Mr. Nader Al Moayyed met food traders and major hypermarkets officials to review market’s readiness to receive the holy month of Ramadan.
During the meeting, officials of major shopping stores confirmed the availability of food commodities and sufficient for more than three months with stable prices, in addition to the various promotional campaigns which will continue until the end of the holy month at competitive prices including goods that are high in demand during Ramadan.
In regard to Vegetables and fruits, one of the fruits and vegetables suppliers confirmed the import of fruits and vegetables will gradually increase from the first day of the month of June to meet the expected demand which reach more than 3,500 tons per day from various countries such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Africa and others.
In terms of meat, General Manager of Bahrain Livestock Company Mr. Blair Brice explained intensify its efforts to meet the expected meat demand during the holy month of Ramadan, stressing company’s readiness in this matter, as well as Delmon Poultry Company.
As for Bahrain Flour Mills Company preparations, it supplies the markets with daily Ramadan products and provides more than 685 traditional bakeries and more than 74 automatic bakeries of subsidized flour.
