Manama: Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, in a statement confirmed that flight GF155, carrying 247 passengers, from Manila to Bahrain experienced severe turbulence while mid-flight on Friday 27 May 2016 resulting in some passengers and crew sustaining minor injuries.
The flight was diverted to Bombay, landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, at 1130GMT (1430 local Bahrain time) where one passenger received medical attention.
Gulf Air apologises for the uncontrollable incident and resulting impact on passengers. The airline’s crew are trained to manage such events and all passengers on board were assisted by Gulf Air staff at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport while the aircraft underwent maintenance inspection. The flight departed Bombay at 1542GMT (1842 local Bahrain time) resuming service to Bahrain International Airport with an anticipated arrival time of 1855GMT (2155 local Bahrain time).
