The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr. Javed Malik, will open the NICOP renewal Centre at the Pakistan Club premises on Sunday at a ceremony.
The opening of the Centre is 1st of its kind facility outside the Pakistan embassy premises where the community will apply for the renewal of their National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).
The Club has established a dedicated terminal to process the applications and the volunteers are being trained by the official of Ministry of Interior Government of Pakistan how to key in the data on the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for processing of the applications.
The Ambassador of Pakistan in the Kingdom of Bahrain Mr Javed Malik during his first visit to the Pakistan Club promised to serve community more effectively through an active participation of the community places. This step is also seen as the beginning of the implementation of vision of the Prime Minister Mian Mohammed Nawaz Sharif’s Government to reach out the people by utilizing the available online and the state-of-the-art facilities including for the renewal of the NICOP and Passports with an active participation of the private sector.
The Chairman of the Pakistan Club, Mr. Mahmood Rafique Chaudhary thanked the Ambassador Mr Javed Malik and assured the Club’s full support for the initiatives aimed at serving the community effectively.
“We have opened the Centre on non-profit basis keeping in mind the level of affordability especially for the labour class who can’t afford to pay for such service outside. Also the Club will provide convenient days and timings including the weekends so that people can avail services without taking a leave from the work,” Mr Rafique, added.
Currently, there has been thousands of NICOP cards backlog due to the limited resources and huge workload that will be shared by the Club. The embassy is also planning to open the similar facilities at the Pakistan School and the Pakistan Urdu School premises to cater for the needs.
“We hope with such initiatives there will be no delays and no backlogs in future.”
