MANAMA: Al Baraka Islamic Bank (ABIB) Bahrain BSC (c) won a global prestigious award, the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA) for the Best Islamic Bank for Treasury Management 2016, where it excelled in this award among a group of contestants who were nominated by the Committee responsible for the award, consisting of a group from well-known international experts in the field of Islamic finance.
GIFA are the most prestigious Islamic finance awards program in the world, respected and sought after by leading political personalities and countries involved in Islamic banking and finance. The objective of GIFA is to encourage the excellence in Islamic finance through highlighting the best practices in Islamic banking and finance and celebrating the success of governments, institutions and individuals in Islamic banking and finance, with an ultimate objective of promoting social responsibility and encouraging the adherence of businesses with the Shari’a rules and commitment to Islamic banking and finance.
The award was received by Mr. Mohamed Isa Al Mutaweh, board member and Chief Executive Officer of Al Baraka Islamic Bank at the awards announcement ceremony organized in Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 29, 2016 under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and was attended by a large group of ministers, governors of central banks, bankers, professionals and the media.
