MANAMA: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is investigating the gruesome murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the responsible should be brought to justice.
Dr Abdullah Abdulmalik Alsheikh, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Bahrain on the sidelines of the IISS Manama Dialogue Security Summit told the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) that politicization of this unfortunate incident was not appalling.
“The deceased journalist was a Saudi national and the Kingdom’s constitution safeguards the rights of all of its citizens irrespective of the difference of opinion, for that matter.”
Referring to uncalled for hype in the case of murder he said that some quarters had been politicizing issue is unnecessary and unfortunate.
Saudi Arabia initially had denied all knowledge of the whole episode of this incident but now Saudi public prosecutor has now described it as premeditated murder.
His comments come a day after Turkey said it wished to extradite 18 Saudi nationals authorities say were involved in the murder.
He added that upon the completion of the ongoing investigation the suspects in the alleged murder would be prosecuted according to the Saudi Arabia laws.
“The leadership has affirmed that those who are involved in this alleged murder irrespective of their positions will be brought to justice,” the Ambassador, said, adding that politicization of this issue will not yield any results.
