MEDIA HUB, SHERATON, MANAMA:The Ministry of Interior Bahrain will initiate legal action against responsible for circulating 41000 messages on various social media channels with malafide intention to derail the electioneering process on Saturday November 24th, 2018.
Addressing a Press Conference, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Chairman of the Supreme Committee on the General Elections 2018 said that the Government was aware of the malafide intention of circulating fake messages aimed at derailing or discouraging the electioneering process on Saturday. However, HE Shaikh Khalid added, the things were proved the other way around as overwhelming majority of Bahrainis came out and cast their ballots.
“We have a highest ever turnout in the parliamentary history of the Kingdom of Bahrain which shows that the people of Bahrain has rejected the call against the participation in the electioneering process,” HE said.
At one stage, HE said, it was worrying some for everyone to witness such large number of misleading content circulating on the social media but sooner the situation was clear that there would be no impact on the elections whatsoever by such campaign.
