MANAMA: His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said that Bahrain’s success in maintaining openness and economic diversification has contributed to the development of the competitiveness of the national economy.
“The steps aimed at economic diversification have led to creating an attractive environment for investments and making the Kingdom as an ideal destination for hosting conferences and exhibitions at the regional and international levels,” His Royal Highness Prime Minister said on the sidelines of the opening of the Jewellery Arabia 2018.
“The success of the Jewellery Arabia 2018 exhibition in establishing its status as an annual event that is attracting growing interest in the region and the world reflects the development of the exhibition and conference industry in the Kingdom as a result of the advantages and components of the national economy and the Kingdom’s leading position in this field,” HRH the Premier said as he opened the exhibition.
“The growth of the exhibition and conference industry is a strong indicator of the continuous development of the business environment in light of the facilities and incentives provided by the government, in addition to the excellence of Bahrain’s infrastructure and logistics services, the availability of qualified human resources and the distinctive service facilities of hotels, exhibition and conference facilities.”
The exhibition, in its 27th edition, features more than 550 exhibitors from 30 countries representing the leading companies of jewellery, luxury watches, precious stones, art objects and high-end writing tools.
HRH Prince Khalifa toured the exhibition’s pavilions where he was briefed on the diverse range of products that showcases the spirit of creativity and luxury displayed brilliantly every year by the participants.
He expressed his admiration for the high value of the exhibition in this year’s edition and stressed that the Jewellery Arabia Exhibition has become a milestone in the world of gold and jewellery industry and in which major companies and brands are racing to be present given the high level of interest in it regionally.
HRH the Prime Minister expressed his pride in the reputation and prestige enjoyed by the gold and jewellery industry in Bahrain, pointing out that this deep-rooted industry represents an authentic cultural heritage as well as an important vital resource for the national economy.
He praised the efforts of Bahraini designers and innovators who are working to integrate the original Bahraini heritage into the gold and jewellery industry and to present them in creative works with a global reputation.
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the exhibition organisers and participants and commended their efforts in organizing it, stressing that it is characterised by creativity, innovation and keenness to highlight Bahrain’s advanced capabilities in the industry of exhibitions and conferences.
Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashed Al Zayani expressed his profound appreciation and great gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, for his patronage of the major economic activities of great repute and importance, such as Jewellery Arabia that has placed Bahrain’s name on the international agenda for specialised exhibitions,
Such generous auspices reflect the interest of His Majesty the King and the government in attracting international specialised exhibitions and harnessing all potentials and capabilities available to develop exhibitions tourism and enhance their contribution to Bahrain’s gross domestic product.
The exhibition industry in Bahrain is in line with the strategic objectives and economic visions of the distinguished leadership and government aiming at strengthening the position of Bahrain as a country that embraces investments and international projects at all levels, especially in light of the incentives and facilities provided by the legislation that attracts the major global companies keen on operating its regional headquarters from Bahrain.
