Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Hamoud Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, has confirmed that the contribution of all representative offices of BETA in the national economy during the first quarter of 2019 amounted to BD20 million, an increase of 84% over the past year.
Over 45,714 tourists visited the Kingdom of Bahrain as part of the concerted efforts of the BETA representative offices aimed to promote the tourism sector and contribute to the diversification of non-oil sources of income by supporting the national economy to achieve the targets of the economic vision 2030.
The most prominent results of the representative offices over the course of one year as follows: The total number of tourists coming through the representative office in Russia 5,839 tourists, whose total expenditure amounted toBD3.1million. While the total number of tourists coming through the representative office in the United Kingdom 3,498 tourists, whose total expenditure amounted to BD 1.7million.
The total number of tourists coming through the representative office in India was 2,346, with a total expenditure of BD1 million. The representative office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was able to attract 31,500 tourists, whose total expenditure amounted to BD14.1 million. It is one of the most important tourism markets in the region and is closely related to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
