MANAMA: Ithmaar Bank, a Bahrain-based Islamic retail bank announced its participation as a Gold Sponsor for the celebration of the 100 years anniversary of banking in Bahrain that will be held in December under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister.
The celebration, which is organised by Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB), was announced in April and includes several events, publications and meetings. Ithmaar Bank is also supporting in the annual Bahraini banks reception that will be held in Washington D.C., United States during the time of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
“We are very proud of the banking sector in Bahrain and the development that has been achieved in the industry since it was established, especially that Bahrain has become a key banking and finance hub in the region,” Ithmaar Bank Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Abdul Rahim, said.
“The industry has faced and successfully overcome many challenges, and we are confident that there even more achievements to come after having a solid foundation that guides the banking sector today,” he said.
“Ithmaar Bank played a major role in the development of the banking industry in Bahrain,” said Abdul Rahim.
“Our participation in the celebration is part of our commitment to consciously support the sector and maintain its pioneering position, which has significant contribution in the prosperity of the national economy. We also provide continued to support to the various BAB’s initiatives as they play an important role in the development of the industry,” he said.
Earlier this year, Ithmaar Bank was named “Best Bank for Personal Finance in Bahrain” by the World Union of Arab Bankers (WUAB) at a high-profile ceremony hosted in Beirut, Lebanon, and attended by senior bankers from across the Middle East. Ithmaar Bank earned the prestigious award following a comprehensive selection and review process that was conducted by a committee of high-level economists and banking professionals, as well the research department of the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) and the WUAB.
