Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Conference Board of the Gulf Economic and Commercial Research Center announced the launch of its activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The event was structured with a seminar organized in the presence of a large number of interested officials from the banking, investment and other sectors.
The launch of the Center in the Kingdom of Bahrain is a reflective of the leading role of the Kingdom and aims to provide decision-makers and the business sector with unique indicators and economic and commercial research for their development and growth.
The Launch event in Bahrain was hosted by Mr. Adnan Ahmed Yousif, President and Chief Executive of Al Baraka Banking Group, at the Al Baraka Headquarters in Bahrain Bay.

Mr. Hisham Abdul Razzaq Al-Razzuqi, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Center, spoke of the pleasure of launching the Center’s activities in Bahrain to provide services to an important and elite audience of experts and members interested in economic affairs. Al-Razzuqi discussed the objectives of the Center and the main activities and services it provides to members, pointing out that the Center aims to provide companies with the necessary tools to adapt to an increasingly complex and interdependent global economy.
Following the Chairman’s speech, the CEO of the Center, Dr. Mahdy Aljazzaf, delivered a speech about the establishment of the Center in Kuwait about a year ago and pointed out about the launch of a number of important reports and researches. Dr. Mahdy briefed about the support received by the Center from important scientific and economic institutions, which helped facilitate the launch and expansion of the Center. This is a sign of their interest in research and scientific planning for business, which contributes to the development of the UAE economy and the work of financial, economic and commercial institutions. He also pointed out that the Center is seeking to launch its activities in the Gulf to serve the economic cooperation and integration of the GCC countries, where the Kingdom of Bahrain is a pivotal starting point for its distinguished economic status, and will be followed by other countries that the Center plans to be present.
Dr. Bart Van Ark, Executive Vice President and Chief Economist at The Conference Board, then spoke out that the Conference Board recently sought to expand its global presence by launching the Gulf Center for Economics and Business Research in Kuwait in November 2018. He also briefly spoke about the various annual reports prepared by the Center, such as the Global Economic Prospects 2020: Gulf Region, and a global research report on “Productivity and Economic Diversification” and its first quarterly report, “Leading Economic Indicators for the Gulf Countries, Q3 2019”. These reports and aspects are concerned and discussed, and some of the most important findings and recommendations.
The Conference Board Gulf Center for Economics and Business Research is a non-profit organization, headquartered in Kuwait and supported by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences and the Union of Banks in Kuwait. The Center started its activity in November 2018 with the aim of helping its members to develop their business and develop their employees, seeking to positively impact the operational environment in the Gulf region by conducting quantitative economic and commercial research, interacting with the trade and decision-making circles in the Gulf region and the world, transferring knowledge and enhancing Capacity to use economic and trade indicators.
