MANANA: Mahmood RAFIQUE, Editor: The Ministry of Health has registered 2 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, a Bahraini female and a Saudi male, arriving at Bahrain International Airport via indirect flights from Iran, increasing the number of confirmed cases to 49.
The Ministry added that it has conducted laboratory tests for 2,274 individuals, of which 2,225 tested were negative. Additionally, 47 of the total 49 confirmed cases do not require any medication, with only two cases receiving necessary medication.
The Ministry noted that both patients were tested upon arrival to Bahrain International Airport. Furthermore, after testing negative at the airport, the patients had been quarantined for 14 days in accordance with established procedures, during which time the COVID-19 symptoms began to appear. They were subsequently retested with all results coming back positive. Both patients were immediately transferred to a dedicated isolation centre for treatment.
The Ministry asserted that it is coordinating with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to combat the spread of COVID-19, and expressed its appreciation to Saudi Arabia and the UAE for their ongoing support. The Ministry emphasised that it continues to enact strict precautionary and preventive measures to protect citizens and residents.
The Ministry of Health went on to highlight the progress of its mobile testing process, introduced to swiftly examine individuals who had returned from Iran before the country announced the pandemic.
The Ministry instructed all who have tested negative to follow health guidelines and self-isolate for 14 days, for which they will receive paid medical leave, and to actively communicate with the specialised medical team.
