Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Ministry of Health Bahrain has announced 655 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday out of them 379 are expatriate workers.
“Out of 8313 COVID-19 tests carried out on 23 June 2020, 655 new cases have been detected among 379 expatriate workers, 264 new cases are contacts of active cases, and 12 are travel related. There were 588 recoveries from the COVID19, taking the total number of recoveries to 17450.
The death tally has reached 67 as of Tuesday while number of active cases 5545 and among them are stable 5509. The statistics show that actives cases receiving treatment were 117 and the number of critical patients was 36. The total tests have reached 494028.
The spike in deaths and number of cases is largely attributable to a deliberate non-compliance of the health and safety guidelines developed and implemented by the authorities.
The non-compliance of precautionary measures issued by the Ministry of Health has enhanced the possibility of spreading of the virus among citizens at an alarming level.
The Ministry of Health stressed that it is the national responsibility of all to follow the precautionary health measures enacted by the government, which include vigilantly following social distancing guidelines, to ensure the mitigation of COVID-19 and the safety of the community.
The Ministry highlighted that recent COVID-19 testing has indicated an increase in cases from contacts of active COVID-19 cases, particularly from family and social gatherings, leaving home for unnecessary reasons, and negligence when complying with the health measures and guidelines issued.
