Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Ministry of Health announced 447 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday out of which 250 were expatriate workers. The total death tally from the pandemic has reached 97, according to the official stats updated by the Ministry of Health by Sunday afternoon.
Out of 8280 COVID-19 tests carried out on July 4th July, 447 new cases have been detected among 250 expatriate workers, 193 new cases are contacts of active cases, and 4 are travel related. There were 641 recoveries from the COVID19, increasing total recoveries to 23959. There are 4802 active cases, and 54 cases receiving treatment and 4756 were stable and 46 patients were in a critical condition, the Ministry said.
The spike in deaths and number of cases is largely attributable to a deliberate non-compliance of the health and safety guidelines developed and implemented by the authorities.
The non-compliance of precautionary measures issued by the Ministry of Health has enhanced the possibility of spreading of the virus among citizens at an alarming level.
The Ministry of Health stressed that it is the national responsibility of all to follow the precautionary health measures enacted by the government, which include vigilantly following social distancing guidelines, to ensure the mitigation of COVID-19 and the safety of the community.
The Ministry highlighted that recent COVID-19 testing has indicated an increase in cases from contacts of active COVID-19 cases, particularly from family and social gatherings, leaving home for unnecessary reasons, and negligence when complying with the health measures and guidelines issued.
