Manama: The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) and the Capital Municipality have announced that the issue of municipal fees for a number of commercial outlets at the Manama Central Market will be settled outside the electricity and water bills.
In a joint statement, the two sides asserted that the arrears, though old or accumulated, must be settled in accordance with the law and regulations, indicating that the electricity service will not be cut off in case the arrears are paid in installments.
The statement affirmed that the electricity service was not disconnected for the Manama Central Market’s shops, except for one, and it was restored to it later.
The two sides stressed their continued keenness on the interests of traders and consumers, as well as on preserving public money, noting that they will coordinate with the market’s merchants regarding arrears of municipality fees.
