Manama: Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has expressed Bahrain’s pride in the steady progress of its long-standing solid friendly relations and strategic partnership with the United Kingdom across various vital and development fields, stressing the Representatives Council’s support for bolstering relations and joint cooperation with the UK in all sectors, for the best interests of the two kingdoms and their peoples.
The speaker underlined the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom to safeguard regional security and stability, combat terrorism, unify efforts and coordinate stances at international gatherings, as well as support efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development goals, in light of the comprehensive development march, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The speaker made the statements while meeting, via video conferencing, UK House of Lords member, Lord George Robertson, with whom she discussed ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation, in addition to issues of common interest.
Lord George Robertson expressed pride in the depth of UK-Bahrain relations, lauding the civilisational achievements attained by Bahrain, under HM King Hamad’s leadership.
He also praised the strides made by Bahraini women in various fields, affirming his keenness to support strengthening joint parliamentary cooperation.
