Manama: The General Directorate of Reformation and Rehabilitation said that an inmate who tested positive for the coronavirus has been provided with prompt and full care.
The case was discovered when the 45-year-old inmate, held in a bouncing check case, was examined due to his high temperature.
Following the positive diagnosis, he was transferred to the designated field hospital and all the inmates and staff who had contact with him were examined and isolated for 14 days. None of the contacts tested positive. The building facilities were sanitized by the Civil Defense as part of the precautionary measures.
The directorate said that prior to his admission into the Correction and Rehabilitation Center in Jaww, the inmate had been quarantined for 14 days.
The Directorate stressed that the health and safety of the staff and the offenders at the center are their top priority and that they follow a strict application of precautionary and preventive measures to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic in accordance with the requirements of the correction and rehabilitation institution law and its executive regulations.
