Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Kingdom of Bahrain as part of its ongoing national vaccination campaign announced a walk-in vaccination for people above 60 with a prior appointment required in other cases.
“We confirm that the elderly who are over 60 can go directly to health centers to receive the “Sinopharm” vaccine without an appointment and the Bahrain International Exhibition Center to receive the “Sputnik” vaccine,” Lt. Col. Dr. Manaf Al Qahtani-Member of the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19) told virtual Press Conference.
Al-Qahtani also called on the elderly, pregnant women and those with chronic diseases, cancer, obesity, and diseases that cause a weak immune system to take vaccinations in order to preserve their health and safety.
“Here we would like to point out that it was found from the statistics that 99.2% of cases are for people who did not receive the vaccination, and that only 0.8% of cases are for people who completed the two doses of vaccination, and this percentage confirms that all vaccinations have their effectiveness in the formation of immunity that contributes to protecting the individual and society,” he said.
“We would like to note that all vaccinations are safe and effective and help reduce the possibility of infection, reduce the severity of symptoms in the event of infection, and renew the call to take the available vaccination and not wait for a specific vaccination to become available, as all of them are effective and contribute to the formation of the necessary immunity,” Lieutenant-Colonel Doctor Manaf Al-Qahtani, said.
