MANAMA: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Kingdom of Bahrain has detected 1047 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday as result of tests carried out by the Ministry Health.
Out of 18112 COVID-19 tests carried out on April 4th 2021, 1047 new cases have been detected among 331 expatriate workers, 690 new cases are contacts of active cases, and 26 are travel related. There were 852 recoveries from the COVID19, increasing total recoveries to 138407, the Ministry confirmed in its statement.
The spike in number of new cases has continued over the past many days and weeks despite the warnings from the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19) which urged the citizens and residents to observe health precautionary protocols while in public. The Task Force which held a Press conference on Sunday urged people to stay home unless it is necessary to go out.
The statistics released on Sunday there were 9874 active cases out of 9805 were in stable condition and 69 in critical condition, while 157 active cases receiving treatment.
Dr. Jameela Al Salman-Consultant of Infectious and Internal Diseases at Salmaniya Medical Complex Al-Salman stressed the need to take vaccination for the aforementioned groups, as they are most vulnerable to the emergence of severe complications in the event of their infection with the virus, and as a result they may be admitted to the intensive care unit.
“Everyone should adhere to national responsibility, and every individual should double his responsibility and urge those in his family and community surroundings to take care to continue with the precautionary measures and instructions issued by the concerned authorities,” she said during the Press conference.
“We stress the need to avoid gatherings and limit them to the same family at home and in the immediate social environment. Vaccination is an immunization for the individual and society, so it is necessary to take the initiative to take vaccinations against the risk poses by this virus,” she said.
“The contact tracing showed that one existing case results in several cases in which large numbers of family members who do not share the same dwelling with the main case,” she said.
The death toll on Sunday was five taking the total number to 536.
