Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: As the private sector is grappling with the challenging business climate hit hard by the pandemic, the numbers of private sector employment were down 9% in 2020 compared to 2019.
The statics released by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry in its Overview of the Local Economy for Q1 stated that the private sector number decreased by 6 per cent% in 2020 when compared to 2015.
A decrease in the number of employees of most economic sectors since 2015, and the largest decrease was in the agricultural, hunting and forestry sector by down by 34 per cent. The largest increase in the number of employees in the health and social work sector up by 138 per cent.
