Manama: The National Medical Taskforce has extended the closure of non-essential businesses for another 15 days to maintain the downward trend in daily cases. The precautionary measures have been extended till June 25 2021.
The partial closure of non-essential services has been extended for an additional two weeks commencing Friday (June 11) until June 25 as Bahrain continues to witness a downward curve in new active cases.
The decision was announced by the Health Ministry following discussions by the National Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (Covid-19) within efforts to achieve a flatter curve.
According to the announcement, malls, cinemas, retail shops, gym, fitness halls, entertainment facilities, spas, barbershops, massage parlours and salons in addition to pools will remain fully closed until June 25 while restaurants and cafes will be restricted to take-away orders and deliveries.
Travel procedures for arrivals to Bahrain remain the same.
“Remote learning will continue at academic establishments while physical attendance will be suspended at all schools, higher education institutions, nurseries and kindergartens as well as rehabilitation centres and training institutes,” stated the Health Ministry on their official Twitter account.
“There will be an exception for international exams.
“Gatherings, celebrations and conferences will remain banned while audiences will not be allowed to attend sporting events while gatherings at home remain prohibited.”
The public sector will continue to operate with 70per cent of its workforce working from home.
Hypermarkets, cold stores, fruits and vegetable as well as fish and meat stores will remain open in addition to petrol stations, bakeries, private hospitals and banks as well as money exchange centres.
Other sectors that will operate normally include import/export businesses, construction work, factories, garages and spare parts shops, administration offices (not having direct dealing with customers) as well as telecommunications and pharmacies.
According to the announcement, there will be a gradual re-opening of closed sectors based on developing new information and indicators.
