Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Kingdom of Bahrain is ready to welcome participating athletes from twelve nations for the 3rd West Asian Para Games Bahrain 2022 takes place from 18 to 27th February at different venues across the Kingdom.
His Excellency Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee and President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee highlight the salient features of the upcoming mega event during a Press conference held at Diplomat Hotel.
The Press conference also attended by the senior officials and representative of the West Asia Para Federation during which revealing the Mascot and medals of the games.
Shaikh Mohammed, extended thanks to His Majesty, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for leadership’s unaverred support for the development of the sports sector in the Kingdom.
He praised and thanked His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King in Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, for his interest and encouragement throughout as the Kingdom set to host this
important regional games.
The Chairman of the Committee extended gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy
Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, thanks for patronizing the event. He also applauded the government and private entities who have worked together to make this momentous event a success.
“For Bahrain to be able to host such prominent games, such as the 3rd West Asian Para Games, it manages to fall in line with the objectives set by the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and the General Sports Authority. We are contributing to the overall tourism of the country sports tourism as we support the aims of the tourism strategy for 2022-2026. Hosting the games carries huge benefits, one being strengthening the country’s position as an ideal destination for sports and sporting events, emphasizing the Kingdom’s readiness and eagerness to attract and organize games such as the Asian Para Games.
“We have also worked closely to contribute to the Sustainability Goals in which we have
signed a memorandum with the United Nations Development Programme, which include good health and well-being, gender equality, reducing inequalities, peace, justice and strong institutions in support of the UNDP goals.”
“Among the objectives that we will be focusing on is educating the community on the importance on inclusivity, and how we encourage people with impairments to be part of our society, as well as highlighting the importance of sports in their lives, as it strengthens them from both a psychological and physical point of view. Sports can also help in improving communication skills, and many more benefits”
Dr. Abdulrazzaq Bani Rashid, President of the West Asia Para Federation also spoke at the press conference, expressing his confidence in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s ability to host games in such a distinguished manner, as they have been preparing and ensuring all of their facilities are fully equipped to suit all the Para athletes attending and competing, as well as the vast experience from their young cadres who have been a part of many games
such as this.
The West Asia Para Federation indicated that they have been in close and constant
contact with the Bahrain Paralympic Committee to learn more about the measures taken to organize these games, as well as what the Kingdom has in store to prepare the cadres supervising the games. They continued to praise and expressed their confidence in Bahrain’s ability to achieve successful games.
Ali Mohamed Almajed, Member of the Supreme Organizing Committee and Secretary General of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee said that the games fall in line with the vision set by the Committee as well as the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and reflects the interest and support of His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa for all aspects of sports.
“The level of unprecedented support will contribute to enhancing the Kingdom’s sports and athletic standing in their abilities to host large-scale games, which includes the 3rd West Asian Para Games, which are the second largest event hosted by the Kingdom.”

Federation expressed his gratitude and thanks to the Kingdom of Bahrain for their keenness to host the third edition of the West Asian Para Games, being one of the most prominent games due to the great interest of the various federations and nations who are willing to compete. The Federation applauded and expressed its pride in its cooperation with the Bahrain Paralympic Committee for their heroic efforts and organizational skills that will surely translate into the success of the games.
Hasan Abdullatif, Executive Director of the Games and Executive Director of Sports and Initiatives, announced that the games will have seven different Para sports with both male and female Para athletes competing. The games take place at four different venues around the Kingdom.
Abdullatif also ensured that all services and facilities have prepared accordingly and will be easily accessible for the Para athletes and their team, as well as all individuals with impairments.
He also revealed the logo for the games as “Azem,” and the name of the mascot is “Azzam” can bring the slogan across that says how “Proud of our Determination.”
